Steps for Residency

On Campus Housing Requirements

  1. Complete a Residence Hall Application.
  2. Complete a free FAFSA Application online.
    (School Code: 002284)
  3. Enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
  4. Pay a $100 security deposit (new residents only).
    (The deposit must be submitted to the Business Office, Room 120 of the Liberal Arts Building at the address listed below. As long as you do not have an outstanding balance at the end of your stay, the deposit will be refunded to you.)
  5. Accept your full financial aid award on Webadvisor.
  6. If you are awarded Direct or Perkins Loans, then you must complete the following documentation:

If you choose to reject your loans, you must contact the Business Office at (313) 927-1227, to complete one of the following items:

  • Pay your remaining balance in full.
  • Enroll in the TMS payment plan for you remaining balance.

If you are awarded a Direct PLUS Loan, then your parent must complete the Direct PLUS loan application. (Be advised that if your parent is approved for the Plus loan, then they must sign the Direct PLUS Master).

If your Parent does not wish to complete the Parent Plus application, you must contact the Business Office at (313) 927-1227, to complete one of the following items:

  • Pay your remaining balance in full.
  • Enroll in the TMS payment plan for you remaining balance.

It is critical that you communicate with the Business Office at (313) 927-1227 to verify that you are approved for housing.


Please be advised that you will not be allowed to receive keys or move into the residence hall until all requirements have been met.
