Marygrove College professor publishes new mystery novel
“Crimes of Love”

DETROIT, Jan. 10, 2012 —Marygrove College professor and author Donald Levin is celebrating the release of his new mystery, “Crimes of Love,” at a book launch party to be held at the Lawrence Street Gallery in Ferndale on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, from 2 - 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Levin will read from the book and sign copies, which will be available for purchase. Wine and cheese and other refreshments will be served.

Set in and around Ferndale, “Crimes of Love” follows police detective Martin Preuss on a frantic search for a seven-year-old girl who has disappeared from the streets of Ferndale. Fast-paced storytelling and keen insights into the weaknesses that beset the human heart make this first Martin Preuss mystery impossible to put down.

Elizabeth Sims, author of the Rita Farmer and Lillian Byrd series (and a former Detroiter), says “’Crimes of Love’ delivers all the elements of a solid police procedural, including a missing child, a determined detective with a fractured heart, slimy suspects, and a surprising ending. I commend Don Levin for bringing realism to an outrageous story of love and violence.”

An award-winning fiction writer and poet, Ferndale resident Donald Levin is also the author of “The House of Grins” (1992), a novel; and two books of poetry, “In Praise of Old Photographs”  (2005) and “New Year’s Tangerine” (2007). Widely published as a poet, he is professor of English and chair of the Department of English and Modern Languages at Marygrove College in Detroit and lives in Ferndale. He has just finished the first draft of the second Martin Preuss mystery.

Lawrence Street Gallery is an artist association showcasing Michigan fine art since 1987. The gallery is located at 22620 Woodward Avenue, Suite A, Ferndale MI 48220. For information on the gallery, visit their website, www.lawrencestreetgallery.com.
