Stephen Hadala

Adjunct Faculty

Stephen began his dance training at the age of 6 at Allard Academy of Dance. After graduating from Grosse Pointe North High School, he attended Marygrove College as a dance performance major. While attending Marygrove, he studied ballet under Jacob Lascu and Jordeen Ivanov. He also studied modern dance with Penny Godboldo. He performed in Dance Detroits production of the Nutcracker and Romeo & Juliet. Stephen also attended summer programs at Dance Theatre of Harlem, Chicago National Ballet Forum and the School of American Ballet. In 1998, Stephen left Detroit to study in Pittsburgh with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School. Later that fall, he was hired as a fulltime company member of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. While dancing with PBT, he performed various soloist and principal roles of their eclectic repertoire. Some of Stephens favorite roles he performed include, Dracula, in Ben Stevensons Dracula, George in John McFalls Great Gatsby, Elegy Boy in George Balanchines Serenade, Mitch in John Neumeiers A Street Car Named Desire, Dr. Copelius in Terrence S. Orrs Coppelia, Johnny in Paul Taylors Company B, Stomper in Twyla Tharps In the Upper Room, Stepsister in Septime Webres Cinderella, Von Rothbart in Terrence S. Orrs Swan Lake, Gamache in Terrence S. Orrs Don Quixote. Stephen also performed several original roles created on him by choreographers, Lynn Taylor Corbitt, Dwight Rhoden, Viktor Plotnikov, Derek Deane, Kevin ODay and Susan Shields. Stephen has performed in Hokkaido Japan, Austria, Germany, and Israel as well as all over the United States. He is currently the co-artistic director and owner of Great Lakes Dance Centre in Clinton Township. Stephen is excited to be rejoining the Marygrove dance department as an instructor.
