The first two years of college can be difficult for many students. Adjusting to a new environment, meeting new people, and the rigorous academic load can be overwhelming and promote anxieties, loneliness, and concerns. Building a learning community with other CTG participants while meeting lifelong friends, will enhance your academic success. The courses you take and the people you get to know will contribute to your success at Marygrove college and beyond. CTG will support you in maximizing your first and second year at Marygrove College.
Learning a new environment, adjusting to your course load, and meeting new people can be overwhelming for new students. You will be paired with a mentor who shares similar professional and academic fields of interest who will help support your transition to the Marygrove Community.
To better prepare second year students for continued success academically and personally, Connecting to the Grove will continue to focus on the needs of our second year students. As a second year student, we understand that your coursework may be more difficult and that you will be focusing more on a chosen field of study, and we are here to help! As part of the program, you will also gain valuable experience as a second year student by assuming a leadership role in guiding incoming freshmen as they transition to the college community.
CTG Ambassadors are full-time students at Marygrove College in good academic and disciplinary standing.
The CTG Ambassador Learning Community is an exciting and engaging opportunity for select CTG sophomores to mentor CTG freshmen as they make the transition to Marygrove College.
This learning community will serve as a hub of information and activities to help freshmen learn their new campus; get involved in campus life; and serve the community through organized service opportunities. CTG Ambassadors model experiences that promote the successful completion of an undergraduate degree at Marygrove College. CTG Ambassadors will assist CTG freshmen to identify and utilize College resources, use reading and study skills to complete college-level work, and form positive relationships that facilitate college success.
As part of the CTG Ambassador Learning Community, students also work alongside the CTG coordinator, learning about future opportunities to facilitate student workshops and GEAR UP events .This opportunity will further foster participants as they serve as a mentoring resource to help guide academic success and professional development.
Academic skill enrichment workshops target the specific needs of first and second year students.
