BACHELOR OF MUSIC WITH A CONCENTRATION IN SACRED MUSIC

A Bachelor of Music in Sacred Music requires approximately 83 credit hours in music and completion of the following components. No minor is required.

* 2 ensemble credits must be in Foundations in Ringing (MUS 204A, 204B, 404A, 404B) as appropriate

Additional requirements are specified for each area of concentration (organ, choral or piano) within the Sacred Music major.  

Choral Emphasis

Principal Instrument – 12 credits of Voice

Secondary Instrument – 6 credits of Keyboard

Organ Emphasis

Principal Instrument – 16 credits of Organ

MUS 106A           3 cr.               Voice Class I
MUS 450              2-3 cr.            Guided Field Experience in Service Playing*
MUS 496              4 cr.               Senior Recital/Seminar (Full)*

Piano Emphasis

Principal Instrument – 12 credits of piano

Secondary Instrument – 4 credits of organ

MUS 450              3 cr.               Guided Field Experience in Service Playing*
MUS 496              4 cr.               Senior Recital/Seminar (Full)

*During the semester of the senior recital/seminar the student must be registered for a minimum level of MUS

      3210, or MUS 321P or MUS 321V.
