Freshman Travel Seminar - Toronto

Freshman Travel Seminar
Canada: The Best of Toronto
Seminar Leaders: Steve Scribner, Tiffany Cherry
Program Dates: October 12 - 14, 2007

Enhance your first year experience at Marygrove by spending a weekend discovering Toronto with other freshmen students.  Sip a coffee in Kensington Market. Explore Cabbagetown or Little Italy. Walk down Yonge Street, the longest street in the world. Take a trip to the top of CN tower, one of the world’s tallest building.

There’s no need to wait – you can study abroad your first semester on campus! This fall, Marygrove will offer a mini-travel seminar to Toronto, Canada for freshmen and transfer students only. As a part of this program, you will travel by train to Toronto and have the chance to experience another culture first-hand.

This three-day program begins with a trip to Stratford where IS 100 students will attend a theatrical performance of  “To Kill a Mockingbird”. From there students have the option to extend this Canadian adventure in Toronto, Canada’s largest city. Toronto offers a cosmopolitan atmosphere with a hint of history. We will stroll through various ethnic neighborhoods, and visit The Royal Ontario Museum, Ontario Science Center and Casa Loma, Toronto’s 1900s era castle. Students will have the opportunity to experience Toronto’ nightlife and may choose to attend a theatrical or musical performance in Toronto’s theater district, which rivals that of New York and London. Everyone will have free time to take in the sights and explore the city on their own, as well.

In order to take part in the program, students must:
1) register for IS 100
2) contact the study abroad office for a travel seminar application
3) turn in the application and non-refundable deposit before Friday, September 7, 2007
