MI, JANUARY 16, 2007--Marygrove
College today announced its partnership with Teachscape, Inc., of San Francisco,
CA, to offer online Master in the Art of Teaching (MAT) degrees for elementary
and secondary school teachers.
The Master in the Art of Teaching in Reading &
Literacy, Grades K-6, will begin on January 22.
The Master in the Art of Teaching in Mathematics, Grades K-5, will start
in summer '07.
As one of the pioneers of distance learning Master's
degrees for teachers, Marygrove has more than 20,000 graduates since it
introduced the MAT in 1996, making its program one of the largest in the nation.

The online MAT in Reading & Literacy, Grades K-6,
provides comprehensive study in the reading process and the instructional
techniques, focusing on the structure of language and the five components of
reading.
With the online MAT in Mathematics, Grades K-5,
elementary teachers assess their own conceptual understanding of fundamental
mathematics and build their own concept knowledge by moving from procedural the
conceptual strategies in the areas of number and operations, measurement,
geometry, algebra, and data analysis and probability.
