MARYGROVE COLLEGE HONORS WOMEN’S
HISTORY MONTH WITH PUBLIC EVENTS
DETROIT, MI, MARCH 13, 2006 — Marygrove College celebrates
Women’s History Month with four major activities that are open to the public. Themed “Women: Builders of Communities and Dreams,” several events highlight
women in various roles and with various aspirations. A meditation session and women’s spiritual retreat opened the
month’s celebration.
On
Wednesday, March 15, “Pathways to Success” features a panel of professional
women, including Debra Hanselman, LMSW, Social Worker,
Oakland Family Services; Irene Tillman, Credit Specialist, Comerica Bank;
Rita
Fields, Senior Physician Recruiter, Henry Ford Health Systems; and
Deborah
McTyre, MSW, Medical Social Worker, Beaumont Hospital. Seating is limited, so reservations are
required for the complimentary luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. in the Madame
Cadillac Building, Denk Chapman Hall.

On Friday,
March 17, from 7 to 10 p.m., An Evening Coffee House will feature activists,
authors, poets and performers Mariela Griffor, Lolita Hernandez, Gloria House,
Twyla Meyer, Dunya Mikhail and Ella Singer in the Madame Cadillac Building,
Alumni Hall. The evening will also feature poetry, music, and dance by Marygrove
alumni. Cost for general admission is
$10 and $6 for students/seniors with I.D.
All proceeds will go to the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society’s

On
Wednesday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Marygrove will host the “Live
Well” Wellness Fair with Metropolitan Detroit vendors and health agencies
sharing information that affects healthiness and well-being in the corridor of
the Madame Cadillac Building. Blood
pressure, glucose and Body Mass Index screenings will be performed by Henry
Ford Health System Center for Disease Prevention nurses for $10. Other vendors include Curves, JazzyKats,
TriRehab Physical Therapy and Fitness USA.
Mini-massages, nutrition assessments and raffle prizes are also available. Free and open to the public. Call 313-927-1391.
