
NOVEMBER 9 “HAVE A SEAT” AUCTION SUPPORTS
MARYGROVE STUDENTS
DETROIT, MI, OCTOBER 5, 2006 –
The auction features the work
of local, national and international artists, including faculty and staff, who
have transformed vintage Marygrove chairs and other items into works of art. Other items, such as dinner with Marygrove’s
new president, Dr. David Fike, will also be auctioned.
The auction begins with a VIP
reception at 6 p.m. followed by the strolling dinner and live and silent
auction at 7:30 p.m. in the
“Have a Seat…and more!”
commemorates the founding of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of
Mary (IHMs), Marygrove’s founders and sponsors, in Monroe, Michigan, in 1845,
as well as the College’s founding in Detroit in 1927 and its predecessor, St.
Mary College in Monroe in 1905. The
event grew out of a challenge from retired President Dr. Glenda Price to
faculty, staff, alumni, students and artists to convert classic Marygrove
classroom chairs into objets d’art that could still have value for the college.
Premium tickets are $125 and
include the VIP reception, dinner and auction.
Patron tickets are $75 and include the strolling dinner and auction.
