Marygrove College to Present

Christmas by Candlelight: A Two Piano Recital

 

Detroit, Michigan, November 17, 2004--The music department at Marygrove College will present Christmas by Candlelight:  A Two Piano Recital featuring new staff members Jacqueline Csurgai-Schmitt and Angelina Pashmakova. The program will take place on Saturday, December 4, 7:30 p.m., in Denk Chapman Hall.

The recital is free and open to the public and will feature works by Mozart, Barber and holiday favorites with an audience sing along. 

Csurgai-Schmitt graduated from Michigan State University cum laud in piano performance.  She holds a masters degree from Indiana University where she studied with Menahem Pressler of the famed Beaux Arts Trio. She co-authored, A Symposium for Pianist and Teachers, a book about the mechanics of piano techniques. She is a pianist for the Dearborn Symphony and the Verdi Opera Theatre.  She resides in Dearborn, Michigan.

Pashmakova was born in Bulgaria and received musical training in Sofia, Bulgaria and St. Petersburg in Russia. Her studies and concerts have taken her to Russia, India and throughout Europe. She performs regularly with musicians from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Michigan Opera Theatre for “Brunch with Bach,” at the Detroit Institute of Arts for “Friday with the Fine Arts” and at the Scarab Club. She resides in Troy, Michigan.
