Detroit, Michigan, November 21, 2004—The Division of Fine Arts
and the Department of Music at Marygrove College are proud to welcome Rodrick
Dixon in a vocal master class
on Friday, December 17, 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., Denk Chapman Hall. Dixon will explore various aspects of music
with participants including vocal techniques, musicianship, interpretation, and stage comportment. The workshop is free and open to the public.
Dixon has toured, recorded and
performed as part of the well-known ensemble the Three Mo’ Tenors, which also features Victor Trent Cook and Thomas
Young. He has also appeared on stage and in concert in a variety of dramatic
roles that encompass the repertoires of opera, oratorio, concert/recital,
musical theater, and television.
Dixon’s television credits
include the PBS special Three Mo’ Tenors,
My Favorite Love Songs; the Mark Twain Awards honoring Whoopi Goldberg at
the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., The
Tony Awards, and NBC’s Today Show.
Dixon’s principle operatic
debuts include the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Portland Opera, the Columbus
Opera, and the Virginia Opera. He has
performed as a concert soloist in Europe at the Chatelet Theatre in Paris,
France, and the Bettona Symphony in Italy.
United States concert debuts include the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at
Ravinia, the Denver Symphony and the Concordia Orchestra at Lincoln Center, the
Wheeling Symphony, and the Elgin Symphony.

Dixon was a 1991 winner of the
Richard F. Gold Career Grant from the Shoshana Foundation and the Mary Dawson
art guild “Tenor of the Year” award. He
has also been the recipient of the Jan Peerce Scholarship, Links Foundation
Scholarship, and a multi-year grant from the Osceola Foundation.
Dixon earned a bachelor’s
degree and master of arts degree from the Mannes College of Music in New
York. He has also studied at l'Academia
Musicale Ottorino Respighi, Italy and l'Ecole d'Art Americain-Palais de
Fontainebleau.
Marygrove College is a liberal arts college located on 53 wooded acres
