Detroit, Michigan--September 14, 2004--Renee Prewitt, APR, director, communications and marketing, Marygrove College, has been accepted into the 2004-2005 Leadership Detroit, Class XXVI. This nationally recognized program provides members with the knowledge and skills needed for effective 21st century leadership.
Prewitt manages a staff that is responsible for creating and sustaining awareness of the college’s many academic programs and events through public relations, media relations, graphic design, advertising, marketing, and the Web site.
She has held many positions in corporate communication, at advertising and public relations agencies, and at radio stations in Chicago, Illinois; Seattle, Washington; Potomac, Maryland; Cleveland, Ohio; and Rochester, New York. Here in Detroit, she is the host of “On Point”, a public affairs talk show on 102.7 KISS FM, which focuses on authors, community affairs and self-help. Her novel, Morning Drive to Midnight, a story about a woman who has one year to propel her radio station to number one in the market, was published in June 2000. Her first co-authored book, In Celebration of Rochester, was published in 1988.
Prewitt is a vice president of the board of directors of The Children’s Center; a board member of Youtheatre/Michigan Performing Arts, Inc.; is an advisory board member of African American Parent magazine; and is a professional member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). She continues to support The YES

Foundation, and served as a reader in the Detroit Public Schools through its outreach program. Prewitt will receive a Master of Strategic Communication and Leadership from Seton Hall University in summer, 2005.
She and her two children reside in Oakland County. # # #
