Acclaimed Pianist Performs at Marygrove College
Detroit,
Michigan--Marygrove College will present a dazzling evening of piano music
featuring Michael Gurt on Friday, March, 19 at 7:30 p.m.
The event will take place in Denk Chapman Hall at Marygrove College,
8425 W. McNichols Rd.
Professor Gurt is head
of the piano department at Sewanee Summer Music Center. He holds degrees from the University of
Michigan and Julliard School, and has performed as soloist with the Chicago
Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, the Memphis Symphony, and the Natal
Philharmonic Orchestra in Durban, South Africa. He has also made solo appearances at Orchestra Hall in
Detroit, City Hall in Hong Kong, the Victorian Arts Center in Australia, and
Baxter Hall in Cape Town, South Africa.
This concert is part of Marygrove’s
Onstage! program, a multidisciplinary, community-focused, arts outreach effort
directed to children, adolescents, adults, and teachers within the metro
Detroit region, with particular emphasis on the City of Detroit. It was made possible in part with
support from the Whitney Fund, Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs,
and the City of Detroit Neighborhood Opportunity Fund.
