The Institute for Detroit Studies at Marygrove College Welcomes Author Kevin Boyle for Defining Detroit Event

Detroit, Michigan—The Institute for Detroit Studies at Marygrove College will present a Defining Detroit event featuring Kevin Boyle on Thursday, September 23 at 7:30 p.m. Boyle is an associate professor of history at Ohio State University and author of the recently published Arc of Justice:  A Saga of Race, Civil Rights and Murder in the Jazz Age.  The title of his presentation is “Arc of Justice:  The Sweet Case (1925-26) and the Course of Civil Rights.”  The program will take place on campus in The Marygrove College Theatre, located at 8425 W. McNichols Rd.

Marygrove’s Institute for Detroit Studies sponsors events that draw attention to the city’s history, literature, art, and music and illuminate issues of social and economic justice.  Authors, scholars and poets address provocative issues that have helped to shape the city’s image. The Institute arose out of the Marygrove College faculty’s well-established record of academic attention to the city and the metropolitan region.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 313-927-1520, or visit our Website at www.marygrove.edu.
