Marygrove College Hosts Business Lecture on Entrepreneurial Opportunities and Challenges in Detroit

 

Detroit, Michigan--Alicia Diaz, former executive director of Shorebank Enterprise Detroit, and Douglass Diggs, director of community and economic development with Detroit Renaissance, will talk about entrepreneurial opportunities and challenges in Detroit on Thursday, March 25, at 7:00 p.m. at Marygrove College, 8425 W. McNichols Rd. in Detroit.  The lecture will take place in the Madame Cadillac Building, Main Dining Room. 

 

In 1998, Diaz was named executive director of Shorebank Enterprise Detroit, a startup nonprofit created to work on residential development projects in Detroit.  More recently, Diaz has served as senior asset advisor with Mayfield-Gentry.  She also serves on the Board of Trustees at Marygrove College.  Diggs has been instrumental since 2000 in development of the Detroit Community Loan Fund, a lending initiative targeted at small, minority-owned businesses in the city.  He also is developing a technical assistance center for small businesses, utilizing a network of professionals to assist fledgling enterprises with business planning and start-up.
