Marygrove’s “Brown v Board
of Education” Conference Speakers
Detroit, Michigan—September 8, 2004—Several local and national speakers will discuss how to move the education agenda forward and reverse the trend of failing public schools at the Marygrove College education conference, “Revitalizing the Purpose and Spirit of Education: The Imprint of Brown v Board of Education”, Oct. 1-3, 2004. Marygrove is located at 8425 W. McNichols Road, Detroit, Michigan. Speakers include:
National speakers are Pedro Noguera, PhD, professor at New York University, an urban sociologist who focuses on ways in which schools are influenced by social and economic conditions in the urban environment; and David Thornburg, PhD, award-winning author, researcher and speaker who has been called the premier futurist in education.
Several other presenters will cover topics on diversity; innovative teaching techniques; community/parental values in education; the higher qualified teacher; curriculum development; arts infused education; and a holistic approach to education.
