If a librarian is not available, please send your email or phone number and we'll get right back to you.

Use the green box below to ask a question by IM. See below for information on sending a question by text message.

Frequently Answered Questions

I need help starting my research project.
Try the interactive online Guide to Academic Research for information on using resources in the Marygrove Library to get your project started.

How can I find a book in the Marygrove Library?
To find books in the Marygrove Library, use the Marygrove Library Catalog (see this short intro to the catalog).  Search the catalog by keyword to find books on a certain topic, You can also search other library catalogs or the WorldCat national catalog at the Search for Books page on the Library website.

Can I renew checked out books or check the status of my library account?
You can access your library record from the Marygrove Library Catalog.  Go to the Catalog and click on the "View Your Record" tab.  Enter your ID barcode to access your record.  Please note that your ID barcode is the 8-digit number on the back of your student ID card, not your 7-digit student ID number.  If you have any questions, please contact the Circulation Desk.

How do I find an article on a certain subject?
To see a list of periodical databases available by subject area, it might help to start on the Search by Subject page of the library website.  Choose the subject area (or areas) you are interested in to access a number of relevant databases.

How can I find a specific periodical (journal or magazine)?
You can find all of the periodicals we subscribe to in print through the Marygrove Library Catalog.  To find a specific title, search by Journal Title Browse and type in the name of the magazine or journal.  Your results will show you the location and holdings of the periodical, if available.
To see all of the periodicals available at Marygrove, whether in print or online, go to the Search for Articles web page and click on the "Search for full-text journals" link on the right side of the screen.

How do I cite an article/web page/book in my paper?
The Library provides Quick Reference Guides on APA and MLA style formatting that include many examples of how to cite materials in your paper.  The Online Writing Lab from Purdue University is also a very good source.
