Subject:
Video Loans
Author/Information
Frank White
Effective Date
October 6, 1998
Purpose
To state circulation policies for videos
Scope
This policy applies to the entire Marygrove College community
Statement of Policy
- Maximum loan periods for videos for faculty are 3 hours for reserve videos
and 21 days for non-reserve videos
- Maximum loan periods for videos for students are 3 hours in-library use
only for both reserve and non-reserve videos
- Videos are not available to students for use outside the library
- There is some flexibility in the application of these loan periods; the
library can override the loan term to accommodate special needs
- Faculty should be aware that non-reserve videos that are out on loan to
one professor may be recalled at any time by another professor wishing to
place them on reserve
- Regrettably, the library cannot comply with requests for extended
borrowing privileges for videos because to do so would be a disservice and
inconvenience to other members of the Marygrove community who depend on
videos being available in the library for their use
- If a faculty member absolutely must have selected videos on
semester-length loans, he or she should check with the library to
investigate the cost of purchasing additional copies. If the cost is
affordable, the library will purchase more copies of heavily used resources.
The other option is for faculty to use academic unit instructional funds to
purchase learning resources for retention in their own departments
