MITEE, the Marygrove Initiative for Technology Education and Empowerment,
has ushered in lots of innovations for students and faculty at the College.
The new program is a part of the 5-year technology plan authored in 2002
which begins in 2004. The MITEE programs are:
Student Technology Instruction Center (STIC)
Located in the lower level of the library, Room L011/L012, the
Center will provide technology skills assessment to incoming
and existing students, and will work with students to improve
their technology literacy skills by providing group training
sessions, one-on-one consultations and access to “just
in time” online tutorials. The Center will also provide
lab space and assistance to students needing to write papers,
produce PowerPoint presentations, scan documents, and access
Blackboard and other applications.
Hotline/Help Desk
Available 24/7 at 1-866-886-4875 for round-the-clock assistance.
“We’ll also have training documents on the Web
site that you can access through interactive chat, which means
you don’t have to break away from your dial up to get
a problem solved,” said Linda Brawner, Director of Educational
Technology Services. MITEE mouse pads and bookmarks will be
distributed to remind users where to call.

Portal
“Students can go to this point of entry for everything,”
said Schulte. “All of the College’s Web sites-Blackboard,
www, Web Adviser-will be there and any organization on campus
can send information to students through the portal.”
Watch for a “Name This Portal” contest, soon.
E-mail
There’s now enough storage room to offer MAT students
their own E-mail. In addition, all students can create their
own address book.
Technology and Printing Fees
Students can log into a school or home computer for free.
In Winter 2005, 100 pages of free printing will automatically
be provided and monitored through your ID number.
Computer Accessible Classrooms
All classrooms will be wired for Blackboard, the online course
delivery and management system, which allows instructors to
post syllabi, readings and assignments, and communicate via
E-mail, virtual chats or discussion boards.
