Position Description

 

TITLE:                          Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations

DEPARTMENT:          Institutional Advancement Div.

REPORTS TO:             Chief Advancement Officer

CLASSIFICATION:     Full-time, Exempt (salaried)

 

Summary:

The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporations, foundations, and government agencies that currently support, or are capable of supporting Marygrove College. This position will work collaboratively with the Director of Alumni Relations/Annual Giving, The Director of Annual Giving/Programs, and the Chief Advancement Officer to help plan and implement a comprehensive annual giving program that addresses the current needs of the College as set forth by the Board of Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team.

 

Essential duties/responsibilities:

  • Create and implement strategic initiatives within the department of Development
  • Set benchmark goals, strategies and generate progress reports
  • Cultivate relationships with key corporate and foundation contacts through personal visits and other appropriate communications
  • Develop and maintain a current resource library of pertinent materials
  • Create and maintain an index of key local and regional foundation, corporate, and

government funding sources

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of institutional priorities and needs, as well as College programs
  • Meet regularly with faculty and staff to assess their funding needs
  • Work with faculty, staff, and management to conceptualize and define requests for

support (grants)

  • Write all grant proposals
  • Research corporate, foundation, and government prospects in response to institutional priorities and needs
  • Conduct appropriate research of constituencies in the database to identify new or increased funding sources
  • Identify and solicit appropriate corporations and foundations for event sponsorship
  • Research and attend at least two professional development seminars annually
  • Assist with all special events
  • Required to work evenings and weekends for special events or other pertinent projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

 


Qualifications:

At least two years grant writing experience

Demonstrated success in Corporate and Government relations

Bachelor’s degree

Previous experience in higher education required

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and The Raiser’s Edge

Must understand and practice the highest level of confidentiality

Advanced RE skills:

 

ü      Create, run, and update reports

ü      Create, run, and update queries

ü      Use Mail module

ü      Use Event module

ü      Create and commit constituent and gift batches

ü      Create exports

ü      Name reports/exports/queries appropriately

ü      Merge Duplicate records

ü      Clean house!

 

 

Essential Microsoft skills:

 

ü      Create, format, and print a Word document

ü      Create, format, and print an Excel spreadsheet

ü      Send email from Outlook

ü      Maintain a calendar in Outlook

ü      Create and maintain contacts in Outlook

ü      Access other users’ calendars in Outlook

ü      Clean house!

 

 

Essential Network skills:

 

ü      Find and identify correctly various network folders

ü      Find, identify, and/or create new network subfolders

ü      Clean house!
