Marygrove College, sponsored by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and committed to fostering Christian values, to educating students from diverse backgrounds, and to serving the people of Metropolitan Detroit and beyond, will be given the Educational Partner Award at Ecumenical Theological Seminary’s (ETS) Sixth Annual Spirit Awards Banquet on May 20, 2012. 

The Ecumenical Theological Seminary (ETS) Educational Partner Award was established to recognize and honor individuals and organizations who strive to provide opportunities for educational achievement in our communities.  The honoree helps empower our citizens toward making educational choices that lead to well-rounded, healthy citizens who understand and articulate the hopes and dreams of our communities.  Dr. David J. Fike, President will be accepting the award.

The event is open to the public. It will be held at the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM) Hall, 3606 E. Liberty Street, Detroit 48207, from 5:30 to 8pm.  Several others will be honored as well including: Rev. Lem Barney, Associate Pastor of Hope United Methodist Church, former Detroit Lion, and Football  Hall of Famer;  Rev. Angelo Henderson,  host of Newstalk AM 1200 WCHB and 99.9 FM; Shirley Stancato, President and CEO, New Detroit Inc.; Najah Bazzy, Founding Director of Zaman International; James Moyer, Assistant Vice President for Facilities Planning Grand Valley University; Joanne Blair and Rev. Oscar King III DMin,  ETS Distinguished  Alumni; and Rev. Charles Mabee, PhD retiring ETS Master of Divinity Director.  

The Sixth Annual Spirit Awards Banquet is ETS’ major fundraiser and all proceeds will help support women and men who are training to become Church leaders in the Detroit metropolitan region and beyond.  ETS has approximately 480 alumni serving churches and communities nationwide. Tickets are $50 per person. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
