
Potential dance majors must apply to Marygrove College prior to the audition. The application may be filled out on-line. An audition is required for admittance into the dance program.
The next audition date is scheduled for March 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. For the audition you must provide a photo, resume and one letter of recommendation. Proper dance attire is required. The audition consists of ballet, modern, and jazz dance techniques. Proficiency at the Intermediate level in one or more dance forms is required for entry into the program. At the end of the audition, you will be asked to present your individual talent in a dance solo. Any dance form (i.e. ballet, modern, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, etc.) is acceptable. Please limit your presentation to 3 minutes. A CD/tape player will be made available for your use.
Following the audition, plan to spend some time on our campus, and be our guest as tickets for the Marygrove College Dance Company II performance of "Private View" will be given to those who attend the audition.

Remember the various options for a degree in dance that Marygrove has to offer: BFA/Dance Performance; BA/Dance Performance; BA/Dance Education and Minor/Dance Performance. Each of the curriculums includes technique classes in ballet, modern, jazz, ethnic, tap, character, pointe/variations, men's class, and dance performance. Supporting theory classes include sequences in dance improvisation, composition, production, teaching theory, music, teaching methods, and nutrition classes. Marygroves's dance program emphasizes strong technical training, and culminates in extensive performances in community, competition, and formal theatrical venues.
