"Race and the Lies My Teacher Told Me"

In concert with the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion -- Humanities, Philosophy, Religious Studies and Social Justice Departments are hosting an evening with Dr. James Loewen titled "Race and the Lies My Teacher Told Me." Loewen, a sociologist, (among many other things) spent two years at the Smithsonian Institute examining leading American history textbooks and found much misinformation, blind patriotism, and racist views of history. He published his findings in "Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong (1995).

When: December 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm

The event is free and open to the community. Please consider coming and bringing your friends and family. Faculty please invite your students! We are looking forward to an interesting evening of learning and engagement.
