At Marygrove, the only thing more important than your education is your safety. We are blessed with a peaceful, beautiful, and friendly campus — and we take every precaution to keep it that way. The Campus Safety Office, located in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Building LA003, handles all safety and security issues, from crime/injury/accident reporting, ID cards to lost & found and parking permits.
Fact: Marygrove Campus Safety’s presence is more prominent in Residence Life than at most institutions. That’s right! Officers lend their services at the front desk at all hours except Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 4:00pm. How’s that for service? Having a Campus Safety Officer at the desk helps maintain the safe living and learning community we take pride in at Florent Gillet Hall.
Campus Safety patrols the campus 24 hours a day which includes, but is not limited to, the interior and exterior of all buildings, walkways, parking lots and perimeter of the campus.
Students must assume responsibility for their personal safety and the security of their belongings by taking simple precautions. For example, although the campus is well-lit, any student, male or female, may request an escort service when returning to the residence hall late at night. Residence Hall doors and windows should be locked at all times, especially when the room is unoccupied. Valuable items, such as stereos, cameras, televisions, and iPods, should be conspicuously marked.
Students should report any suspicious-looking activities or individuals that they feel do not belong in their residence halls or any unusual incidents in and around the residence halls to the Office of Residence Life at extension 1601 or 1380, or by dialing Campus Safety Dispatch at extension 1411; off-campus dial direct 313-927-1411.

For safety, convenience, and to access Marygrove’s wealth of resources, all students are required to have an ID card. You can obtain your card at the Campus Safety Office. Proof of registration must be provided. ID cards must be renewed every semester by getting a current semester sticker. There is a fee to replace a lost or stolen ID card. Students should pay the fee at the Business Office, and then take the receipt to the Campus Safety Office to get a new ID card made.
