WHAT SCHOLARSHIPS OR DISCOUNTS ARE AVAILABLE?
Marygrove College is committed to attracting qualified students who will thrive in an academic community. Each Fall semester, Marygrove offers a limited number of competitive scholarships to incoming Freshmen and Transfer students. These scholarships are renewable provided the recipient maintains an acceptable cumulative grade point average as outlined in the scholarship contract a recipient signs each year. Because students may also be eligible for need based financial assistance through the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid, a scholarship candidate must apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Listed below are the requirements for each scholarship.

Full Tuition Scholarship Award
A limited number of full tuition scholarships are awarded each year to incoming freshmen and transfer students.Full tuition scholarships are based on a combination of grade point average, engagement within academic community, and community service hours performed.Full tuition scholarships are awarded early in the recruitment season. It is imperative that the Office of Undergraduate Admissions receive your application and high school/college transcripts no later than the month of December prior to your Fall entrance.

Phi Theta Kappa Award
Criteria: Minimum 3.5 GPA, direct transfer from a Junior/Community College with 30+ transferable credit hours; member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. Phi Theta Kapa is renewable for 6 semesters only excluding summers.

Presidential, Trustee, and Merit Scholarship Awards
Marygrove College offers a limited number of academic scholarships based on a student’s grade point average at the time of admittance to the college. The current Scholarship range is $2,500.00 - $9,500.00 per year.(Scholarship award values may vary from year to year.)Students must have an application for undergraduate admission and all required transcripts on file in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in order to be considered for a scholarship award.

Marygrove Talent Award – Art, Dance or Music
Criteria: Minimum 2.7 GPA, Audition or Portfolio Review, acceptable ACT/SAT scores required for high school students and 24+ transferable credit hours required for transfer students.

Scholarships cover tuition only. The scholarship amounts are divided equally based on Fall and Winter enrollment. Requirements for maintaining awards include: maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA while enrolled for 12 credit hours each semester for a maximum of ten semesters, excluding summers for freshmen; a maximum of six semesters, excluding summers for transfer students. The scholarship may be renewed each semester for a maximum of ten (10) consecutive semesters based on compliance with the requirements. Students who fall below the requirements after the first year and meet the requirements in the following year can re-apply, but are not guaranteed reinstatement of the scholarship.
In addition to the Marygrove Scholarships and Grants, the college awards six scholarships named to honor a specific individual. The six scholarships, their criteria, and the method of recipient selection follow.

The Marie Louise DeMarco McLeod Scholarship is awarded to the full-time first year student with the highest grade point average.

The Sister Suzanne Fleming, IHM, Scholarship is awarded to women
who are majoring in the sciences or arts. Faculty members of the science and art departments select their respective recipients.

The Sister John Clement Hungerman Scholarship is awarded to a sophomore or junior who has successfully completed at least 24 credit hours at Marygrove College with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. The recipient of the award must also have demonstrated
a financial need. A committee comprised of an academic Dean, the Chairperson of the Honors and Academic Review Committee, and a financial officer selects the recipient from students nominated by the faculty and administration.

The Maria Kostecke Murphy Scholarship is awarded to a woman majoring
in mathematics. The faculty of the mathematics department selects
the recipient.

The Margaret DeSantis Scholarship is awarded to the sophomore or junior receiving the St. Catherine Medal for academic achievement, leadership and service. The recipient is selected by vote of faculty and administrators.

The Emmet and Frances Tracy Scholarship is awarded to a previously enrolled student who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership ability and high ethical standards of conduct. The recipient is selected by vote of the faculty and administrators.

Family Discounts
Tuition discounts are available when several members of an immediate family (i.e., parents and children) are registered at Marygrove College.

Staff Education Assistance Benefits
All permanent full- and part-time employees of the College are eligible for education assistance benefits. Family members (legal dependents) of employees are eligible for a tuition discount. Senior Citizen Grant
Senior citizens (aged 65 or older) are eligible for a 50 percent reduction in tuition costs for undergraduate and graduate courses. When applying for senior citizen grants, students should be prepared to present proof of age. The grant does not apply to courses taken at Consortium institutions and can be applied only to tuition.
