Sue Vanderbeck Lenz
Sue Vanderbeck Lenz is professor of music at Marygrove College in Detroit, where she teaches piano, piano pedagogy, and music history. She holds degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in piano performance and music history and Houghton College, Houghton, New York. Her study includes work with Eugene Bossart, Benning Dexter, Joseph Gurt, C. Nolan Huizenga, Louis Nagel, and Nelita True. Her extensive study in traditional and Suzuki piano pedagogy includes work with Carole Bigler, Alice Kern, Sheila Paige, Joanne Smith, Dorothy Taubman, and Valery Lloyd-Watts. She has performed in solo, piano duet, duo-piano, and chamber music concerts in the Metropolitan Detroit area, Boston, and Chicago. She adjudicates frequently for state and local piano solo and concerto competitions. She began performing piano four-hands repertoire with Elaine Grover, professor emerita, in 1998 and has performed often for events at Marygrove and in the Metropolitan Detroit area. The piano team known as KeyDuets is featured on two CD’s, A Fireside Christmas with KeyDuets and A Holiday Greeting from KeyDuets.
