BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Mentoring in Marygrove’s MAT-Online program is an exciting and rewarding experience.  Our program has national recognition and has mentored over 24,000 students from over 40 states with a completion rate of 88%. Our staff of 96 mentors and 22 mentor advisors is part of the Marygrove College’s committed effort to improve teaching practice one classroom at a time.


Marygrove College is seeking experienced individuals who have the long standing history, experience and expertise in the field of education. Your wisdom will allow you to go that extra mile, to support the students you mentor and encourage them on the path for future successes. Our mentor program will allow you to share all those years of experience and help Marygrove College cultivate the next generation of successful teachers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Mentoring students in the online Masters in the Art of Teaching program
  • Lead and support students via online classroom
  • Monitor online discussion similar to Blackboard
  • Electronic grading of classroom work
  • Teach two courses per semester, classes are 7 weeks long with one week break between

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. (or equivalent) in education, curriculum and instruction, or related field
  • Teaching Certificate
  • Three years or more of K-12 experience
  • Working knowledge/skills of Microsoft applications
  • Working knowledge of online course management tools (preferred)
  • Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organization, multi-tasking and follow-up skills
  • Respect for detail, accuracy, and deadlines
