What is the Marygrove College Theatre?
The Marygrove College Theatre (MCT) is a state of the art, 392-seat proscenium
theatre with a balcony. The theatre also contains a fully furnished and
equipped green room, rehearsal studio, and five dressing rooms complete
with bathrooms, a “star” dressing room with bathroom and shower,
a petite lobby, and box office. Having undergone a three million dollar
renovation in 2002, the theatre has a modern control booth complete with
a Strand lighting, audio and projection system. The Marygrove College
Theatre is located on the campus of Marygrove College in Detroit.
What is the mission statement of Marygrove College Theatre?
The Marygrove College Theatre is intended primarily as a cultural and
educational resource for the College, metro Detroit area youth, and targeted
community arts organizations.

How is programming determined?
Programs by Marygrove departments and organizations are given the highest
priority. The theatre is available to other organizations on an individual
program rental basis for purpose that are compatible with the mission
of Marygrove College and/or are in the interests of the community.
Programs that are inconsistent with the values of Marygrove College will
not be permitted. The appropriateness will be made by the College.
What is the process for booking the MCT?
- Complete a theatre request application.
Supporting documents such as proof of non-profit status may be requested.
Paper copies are available in the theatre lobby.
- Call the MCT theatre manager at (313) 927-1522 to ensure availability
of your date(s).
- Review the resulting cost estimate provided by the MCT.
- Meet with the MCT theatre manager.
- Submit a deposit and evidence of general liability insurance coverage.
- Upon acceptance of the deposit, evidence of insurance and a signed
agreement, the event is considered “booked,” and you may
begin publicity and marketing of the event.
Does Marygrove College do any marketing or advertising for events?
All marketing, advertising and promotions are the sole responsibility
of the producers and presenters who are renting the MCT for their event.
No production/event may be promoted in any way until an agreement has
been signed and the MCT has received a deposit. The MCT must approve all
marketing/promotional materials that mention the MCT or an event at the
MCT. Producers are welcome to sell promotional items, such as t-shirts
or posters, at a table in the lobby.
What are the insurance requirements?
All events with an audience must procure and maintain in full force during
the term of the contract standard comprehensive general liability insurance.
Marygrove College Theatre, Marygrove College and the Sisters, Servants
of the Immaculate Heart of Mary shall be named as additional insured in
the amount of $1,000,000 (one million dollars).
Who operates concessions? Can my organization sell or give away
food or alcoholic beverages?
Concessions are operated by the MCT. Sodexho operates the College's conference, catering and banquet services, and is the College’s contracted
provider for all food and beverages. No outside food or beverages are
allowed without the written consent of Sodexho. Food and beverage arrangements
can be made by contacting the conference center at (313)

How are tickets sold for events at the MCT?
Box office operations are the sole responsibility of the producer renting
the theatre, so the arrangements for ticket sales vary for each production.
Where do the MCT patrons park?
Parking on Marygrove College's campus is free. There are three secure
and lighted parking areas for your convenience.
Can the MCT help with production services?
The Marygrove College Theatre offers complete production services for
your vision. From production to sound to lighting, MCT offers industry
professionals adept at designing for the theatrical experience. Whether
you desire an original sound design, a unique lighting atmosphere, or
an arresting special effect, MCT designers can make magic for your show.
