Theatre
The theatre has premiered numerous events including the play Forgotten and the movie All About You, and hosted performances of New York City's Urban Ballet, John Cage's Europera #5, and social justice programs by the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ). It has hosted the opera singer Denyce Graves; Hollywood celebrity Sheryl Lee Ralph; musical group Slum Village; political dignitaries Freeman Hendrix and Sharon McPhail; authors J.L. King, Kevin Boyle, and Stephanie Coontz; and world renowned humanitarians Patricia Smith-Melton and Nontombi Naomi Tutu. A community partner, the theatre has afforded community organizations such as Inside Out Literary Society, University of Detroit-Mercy's "The Theatre Company," Matrix Theatre Company, Plowshares Theatre Company, Detroit Together Men's Chorus, Detroit Youth Concert Choral, Michigan Minority Business Development Council, Detroit Free Press 1st Amendment Center, Black Cinema Café, and Disney Theatrical Productions an place to present their events. .............................................................................................................................................................................. |
