Results
The Educational Technology Services department had a clear goal for the evening:
to increase the number of black families making technology an important part of their lives, in order to enhance their education, health, nutrition, job opportunities, communication skills, entertainment, and overall quality of life.
To this end, a number of objectives were identified and met:
Marygrove College enhanced its reputation as a provider of technology resources, both for students and neighboring community members;
A number of free prizes were given away, including a personal computer, an iPod, and Marygrove College memorabilia;
By the end of the evening, 100% of workshop participants were familiar with the process of buying a personal computer, and knew how to make an informed decision when they decide to buy their first or next computer;
100% of workshop participants learned about the pros and cons of digital photography, explored the various features of popular brands, and discovered what type of camera best fit their needs and budget;
100% of workshop participants used tools from the internet to research their family trees;
100% of workshop participants explored the templates within Microsoft Publisher to create newsletters, bulletins, and flyers;
and most importantly, 100% of workshop participants left our event with a greater understanding of how technology can enhance the quality of their lives.
