EXPERTS DISCUSS HISTORIC PRESERVATION IN DETROIT AT
MARYGROVE COLLEGE ON FEBRUARY 23
Marygrove College, through its Institute for Detroit Studies, presents
a Defining Detroit event, “Historic Preservation in Detroit:
Aesthetics and Sustainability,” on Thursday, February 23, 2006,
at 7:30 p.m. in the Madame Cadillac Building. The event is free and open

MARYGROVE HOSTS MULTI-MEDIA INSTALLATION
ARTIST ANITA THACHER IN THE GALLERY AND KATHE ARKLES IN THE BEYOND WORDS
GALLERY
In The Gallery (fourth floor of Liberal Arts Building), the Department
of Art presents New York film and installation artist Anita Thacher from
February 16 until March 15, 2006. Thacher is internationally recognized
for her multi-media installations, films, videos, public art and photography.
Her art explores issues of perception and the nature of the spaces and
mediums she uses. She will also present a master class for Detroit area
high school students and Marygrove art students. [More]
FORMER MARYGROVE PRESIDENT, ARTHUR BROWN, LEAVES LEGACY OF COMMITMENT TO HIGHER EDUCATION
Dr. Arthur W. Brown, Marygrove College president from 1969 to 1972, passed
away January 12, at the age of 88. Dr. Brown was the first lay president
since founding president, Dr. Derry, and the first Marygrove president
elected by a lay board of trustees. [More]

SHOP ON-LINE AND SUPPORT DESERVING STUDENTS
The Marygrove College Alumni Association has registered with an online
shopping mall called OneCause that allows a percentage of your total bill
to be donated back to the Alumni Association. Funds raised through OneCause
will be used to provide scholarships for deserving students. Shopping
couldn’t be easier as there are hundreds of online merchants and
