This Web site evolved from a project underwritten by Ameritech to encourage the innovative use of technology in higher education. 

The project had three elements:

1.  Marygrove faculty, staff, and students took part in a workshop in Summer 1999 to learn to create instructional Web sites;

2.  Marygrove students designed this Web site on Lucille Clifton, with links to previous authors;

3.  Students in public and private schools throughout the Detroit metropolitan area were invited to form a partnership with Marygrove to use the Web site for instructional units on Ms. Clifton at their own schools.

The original Web site was designed in Fall 1999 by Dr. Donald Levin, Dr. Frank Rashid, Jamie Babcock, Lydia Bougard, Delores McCoy, Sharon Wallace, and Richard Zwicker.
