Author CORNELIUS EADY was born in Rochester, New York, in 1954. Formerly director of the Poetry Center at SUNY/Stony Brook, he is currently distinguished writer-in-residence at the City College of New York. He has been awarded the Academy of American Poets Lamont Prize, a Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship to Bellagio, Italy, and fellowships from the Lila Wallace-Reader’s Digest Foundation and the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation. Cornelius Eady has published six books, including Brutal Imagination (2001), a finalist for the 2001 National Book Award for Poetry; You Don’t Miss Your Water (1995); The Gathering of My Name (1991), a Pulitzer-Prize nominee; BOOM BOOM BOOM (1988); Victims of the Latest Dance Craze (1985), winner of the Lamont Poetry award; and Kartunes (1980). His theatre collaborations include Running Man, a musical theatre piece that was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 1999. He is a co-founder with Toi Derricotte of Cave Canem, a Retreat for African American Poets. Mr. Eady lives in New York City.
