We
are proud to welcome you to an institution that is steeped in tradition,
guided by Christian values, and celebrated for its academic excellence.
You are about to start the most phenomenal period of your life. We encourage
you to take full advantage of the many opportunities for intellectual
and personal growth that the campus offers, beginning with the orientation
program.
The New Student
Orientation Committee coordinates the orientation program. Several orientations
are scheduled to take place before the fall, winter, and summer semesters
begin.
Purpose
College can be exciting and challenging. The purpose of this
mandatory orientation is to introduce you to the Marygrove campus community.
It offers first-time and transfer students an opportunity to make a
smooth transition into college and better understand the many programs,
policies, and services that enable our students to thrive. Our goal
is to make your college experience more successful, more dynamic, and
more memorable than anything you've ever done.
Mandatory
attendance
It is important for you to remember that orientation is mandatory
for all new students. Failure to attend orientation will result in a
"1S Hold", which will prevent you from registering for the
next semester. The hold will not be removed until you have done an orientation
program.
Program overview
The college holds a two day orientation session for all students
entering at the fall semester. It also holds a four hour evening session
during registration for students entering for the winter and summer
semesters.
- Two day campus orientation This program
is mandatory for all new students who are enrolling for the fall semester.
This is the only orientation scheduled for students who are matriculating
directly from high school, plan to live on campus, and/or have never
attended college. It is scheduled for the second week in August and
includes an optional overnight stay in the Florent Gillet residence
hall on campus.
- Evening orientation Designed as a
"nuts and bolts" session, this orientation is mandatory for
transfer students and students entering the college for the winter and
summer semesters. It is scheduled during the week of regular registration,
before the semester begins.
- Parent/family member orientation:
This session includes a welcome from the president, a presentation on
campus safety, a tour of the campus, and offers methods on how to support
your relative while he or she is in school. It is held once per year
during the second week in August.
