Women's Basketball Coaches Antonio Hitchcock, Head Coach 2007-08 will be Tony Hitchcock's fourth season as head coach of the Mustang women's basketball team. Last year Hitchcock lead the women to a 16-16 record, the best in the program’s history. Also, Hitchcock’s women’s team appeared in its first USCAA Final Four in 2007. Before coming to Marygrove, Hitchcock worked two years for Palace Sports & Entertainment as an Event Crew Manager. Prior to his stint at Palace Sports, Antonio was an assistant women's coach at Wayne County Community College. With Hitchcock as an assistant, WCCCD earned the school's first bid to the NJCAA Regional Tournament in 2002. The WCCCD team followed up with a 20-win season in 2002-03. Prior to coaching at Wayne County, Hitchcock helped coach the boy's basketball team at his high school alma mater, Hamtramck High, to two Metro Conference Championships. Before entering the coaching ranks, Hitchcock spent a season playing for Melbourne of the Australian National Basketball Association after completing his collegiate playing career. Antonio graduated from Wartburg College (IA). As a two-year starter at Wartburg, Hitchcock lead the team in rebounding and field goal percentage. Hitchcock transferred to Wartburg from Grand Rapids Community College. Besides his coaching role at Marygrove College, Antonio is the Director of Athletics & Physical Education at Allen Academy in Detroit. He and his wife, Jamii, reside in West Bloomfield and have a daughter, Gabrielle.
